General Contest Information
All contests are open
to designers everywhere. Each contest has a theme chosen by the
host sites, and all designers try to create the best scenario
they can that fits that theme. All entries are submitted anonymously
and then are made available to the community for judging. When
all voting is over, the names of the authors are revealed.
The official contest
decision is made by an appointed judge who is well-known in the
Apolyton community. A winner and runner-up are selected. Winning
scenarios are featured prominently on several major sites as
a reward. The exposure is often enough to guarantee your other
work will not be ignored among the hundreds of other scenarios
out there.
Each contest also
has a Peoples' Choice Award that offers ribbons to the top three
scenarios, as voted on by the community. Each member of the Apolyton
community can vote for a winner and a runner-up. At the end of
the voting period, all votes are tallied and the ribbons are
awarded. Even winners of previous contests and the judges are
allowed to submit scenarios for the Peoples' Choice Awards, though
they will not be allowed to compete in the main competition.
Scenarios are to be
designed for use with Civilization II: Fantastic Worlds if possible,
or Civilization II: Multiplayer Gold Edition if you have no access
to Fantastic Worlds. Starting with Contest #3, we are also having
a Test of Time contest that runs simultaneously with the other.
Future contests will
be conducted in association with the Hodadian Awards Center and
other major Civ-related pages. |
