Contest Help File

A page of helpful stuff for the Dracula contest.

Dracula Help Page

Blackclove put together the following list of helpful links for setting your Dracula scenario up. The Dracula scenario can involve either vampires or the historical person of Vlad Tepes, either of which might be quite interesting. Tepes fought against the Ottoman Empire's invasion of Europe in "real life". Perhaps some combination of the two would be interesting... maybe the vampire Dracula was created after his bloodthirsty tactics during the Ottoman invasion.

Historical Sites:

  • Here's a very cool site: a map of Romania that includes terrains if you click on it and the location of Dracula's castle. To see this gem, visit Dracula's Castle.
  • Information about the real Count Tepes and his family can be found at this historical Dracula page.
  • This campy site for the English "Dracula Society" might have something amusing for those who seek knowledge of the "children of the night".
  • A map of Hungary and Romania during the Ottoman occupation (map) can be found at this site.
  • A super-brief history of the Ottoman conquests.

Fantasy/Vampire Sites:

  • Want to know about vampires? The Vampire Top 50 Sites list is probably a good place to start looking, though I warn you that it is very slooowwwww to load due to the tables and massive set of banner art.
  • You can find the complete text of Bram Stoker's classic novel at this Dracula page.

Artwork for Dracula

We also searched around for some nice images you might be able to use for units. If you use any of these, make sure you credit the original authors, please!

  • A good set of Ancient Units was compiled by Harlan Thompson and is a must-have for most designers.
  • Alex Mor has done a set of Polish and Hungarian units and some Ancient Russian units that might be helpful to those doing an ancient design.
  • Erwan has some very nice looking Victorian People units that might be helpful to those designing a scenario based on the novel.
