Overall Rating

28/30
SYNOPSIS: Out of all the world war 2 scenarios that take place on the world front, I would have to say that this one is my favorite without any arguments.  It has new art for every category, new ideas, good events, and a fair playability.  The only thing that is wrong with it is that it has a few crucial misinterpretations of historical fact, but this is not enough to mark the scenario down too much.  You get the feel from the scenario that they were not really after historical accuracy rather then making an enjoyable multiplayer WW2 scenario, which they succeeded in doing.

Playability Rating

8 / 10
COMMENTS: This scenario’s playability is pretty good, in fact I would say above average for WW2 scenarios.  I partially do not think that the score that I am giving it is fair because it is the only WW2 scenario that I know of that allows you to play as 5 civilizations without losing important detail or playability.  The only two reasons why I mark this scenario down in this area is because for one thing, when you play as Germany, you have a TREMENDOUSLY easy time dealing with Afrika.  Since you can easily ship in new units from the mainland in one turn, bomb the heck outta Afrika with units stationed in Europe, nail it with a Battleship, and use all the units that you have in Afrika already, it is much to easy.  This of course could be easily remedied by having the Brits put up a stiffer defence in Afrika, or by having there not be as many units available to use there.

The other main problem that I have with this scenario’s playability is that playing as America and Britain is not particularly fun.  With both of them you have a long time of building up, and then shipping out, and then more building up.  It is not as bad with America because you can do this in a fair amount of time, but with Britain it takes forever since half of your empire is not very good production wise.  Also it takes a LONG time to ship units from New Zealand to Britain to prepare for D-Day.  I suggest having 1 or 2 units pop up via events in Britain (both American and British) from time to time to remedy this.

The two main complaints that I have in this area are easily remedied.  I don’t see any reason why Nemo and Alex can’t make this scenario a 30/30.

Level of General Care

10 / 10
COMMENTS: It is quite obvious that Nemo put a lot of care into this scenario.  All the art that could be changed was, the readme is extensive to say the least, he had it playtested for a good while before he released it, he has been very active on the Apolyton forums about this scenario and how he could make it better, the list goes on and on.  All these things give this scenario a 10 out of 10 for General care.  Nemo obviously put every ounce he had into it.

Art and Originality

10 / 10
NEW IDEAS: I like the way that they handled the way you have to work your way to the atomic bomb and how it is a pain to build it.  In most WW2 scenarios that I know, you can have the bomb by 1943 if you know what you are doing and pay attention to the tech tree, but not in this scenario! It really adds some realism, and a real fun area, in fact, the bomb race was the most fun part of it when playing as the Americans for me.  The scenario had many new ideas in it as well, I liked how they “brought back” Self-Propelled guns after so many WW2 scenarios (including mine) have neglected to use them.  I always like it when a scenario chooses to use some units that are not usually used.  It makes it a lot more fun.

ART: Nemo and Alex must have caught the drift when they took heat for not making Spartacus’ art perfect, because they sure as heck made 2,194 Days of War’s PERFECT.  They have changed EVERYTHING.  You must see for yourself, but the units are absolutely gorgeous, the cities are a work of art, many city improvements have been changed, heck, they even changed the graphic for the scientific advances! This scenario has the best WW2 art that you can find on the net that was created by hand, PERIOD.
