Overall Rating

SUMMARY: I hate to give a scenario such a low score, but this one really needs a lot of work. It isn't really a bad scenario; it just needs a lot more polishing. I think that with some effort the authors could improve it to the point where it would be comparable to other good scenarios. It is nowhere near as good as Tom's other [excellent] scenario based on the NATO attack on Serbia in 1999. The main problem is simply the lack of anything particularly noteworthy about the scenario and the general lack of care in designing it.

Playability Rating

4 / 10
COMMENTS: The game is a simple conquer and destroy mission using modern units. The extremely fast movement rates of some units, especially paratroopers and air units, lead to poor play balance and give the human an overwhelming advantage. Paratroopers can also drop extremely long distances. Even on deity, the scenario is a cakewalk.

To make things even worse, the computer player tends to stack all of his airplanes 11 deep so I can kill them with a single harrier unit.

For whatever reason, Argentine air units are pathetic compared to British ones. Perhaps this is historically accurate, but it doesn't make for a fun scenario.

Level of General Care

2 / 10

COMMENTS: The terrain is all grassland and the cities are all maxed-out modern metropoli -- a typical sign of a first scenario. No tech or improvement changes have been made.

The total absence of a readme file except for a brief dedication to the servicemen who died in the conflict is also problematic. The authors should read SLeague's tip on preparing readme files if they haven't already. This made it especially hard to figure out what some of the cryptic "create unit" events were giving me or my foe.

Several units share the same graphic, which is confusing.

The events are not very exciting; most events are create unit events with the caption "British send in <unit type>!". it would be nice if the author would include some new events of other types, especially ones that enhance our historical knowledge of the actual conflict.

For some reason, most units are super-expensive, while mech inf cost only 1. This is probably an oversight and could be fixed pretty easily.

Art and Originality

2 / 10
COMMENTS: The author has not included flags or a title.gif file, and there are no sounds. All of the unit art is recycled, though some of it is not usually seen. There is almost no new artwork, nor an icons file. Essentially, there are no new ideas at all.

CONCLUSION: This scenario is simply not up to par. A lot of work will be required to make it worthwhile, including adding new terrains, more historical information, better artwork, and some play balancing. However, with the required elbow grease it could be dramatically improved.
