COMMENTS: This scenario is really fun to play, even if
it's rather difficult. It's a good challenge for good players.
There are three different events files in this scenario: one
when you play as the central powers; another when you play the
allies; and a third for multi-player games. Thus the Events
file create more units for your enemy which create the difficulty.
The scenario is also well balanced, and very representative of
World War I. At the beginning, it's very hard to pierce the front
and there are great and bloody battles to gain very little terrain!
You must be aware of that because you could feel bored, but it's
World War I scenario so if you are in the atmosphere of the scenario
you feel very happy when you win one square!
There is
a little problem at the beginning when playing Germans, there
are many civil disorders at the first turn which is irritating.
Moreover, sometimes the Events file make some units reappear
when killed ! I think the reason is to make your enemy stronger
but it's not very realistic (the more you kill, the more there
are) and then you hesitate to kill this kind of unit. The main
problem is that they reappear in a square of the front making
it unconquerable (I killed 24 units but they all reappeared in
the same square !). After that I felt powerless and frustrated.
I think it would be better if these units reappear far from the
front or if more units were created with Events file without
reappearing when killed.
Another
detail, the English navy isn't strong enough so when playing
Germans you'd better build Battleships to dominate the sea than
build u-boats to sink only the transports.
Finally
the atmosphere is excellent, graphics are cool and approprate,
all seems to be historically accurate, and there are many historical
notes never too long and always pleasant to read. |
