COMMENTS: I give this scenario an 8 in Playability.
I dont think that all the barbarians are as balanced as
they should be. This kinda gives the scenario a way to make it
more difficult for you. The two easiest tribes are the
Huns and the Anglo-Saxons. The Huns have good starting
position and an EXTREMELY large and mobile army.
When
you take your first Byzantine city you get lots of money to buy
temples and troops to keep cities happy when you take them over.
The Anglo-Saxons are right next to Hadrians Wall.
Easy to get and its almost impossible to loss a city if
its got 2 infantry defending it. Not a bad thing
I remind you. The thing here is also that I usually had
to stop attacking when I simply ran out of units. Then
I have to wait maybe 10 turns to mount a counter-attack.
This is where it gets frustrating. But if it wasnt
like this, than getting to Rome would be a pushover. Maybe
Im just a poor general. Atmosphere is wonderful,
although the chariot looks a bit weird.
One of the best parts of
this scenario is that you can actually fight with your generals
and emperors/leaders. Its cool when you get to use
them cause theyre nearly unstoppable. Unfortunately
your opponents have them too! Hard to kill when you play
on Deity. Extremely satisfying when you finally kill them.
