Scenario Title: Final Fantasy: Allies vs Empire

Author: Unknown

  Science Fiction scenario.

Several small civs (2+ cities) and one larger start around the Iron Age and continue with a normal game of Civ2. The relation to Final Fantasy is only in the names and your imagination.

Overall Rating

12/30
OVERVIEW: There isn't much to say about this scenario. Almost nothing has changed from the standard game.

It's quite well-balanced and fun to play, and a little more challenging than usual.

Playability Rating

7/ 10
COMMENTS: You start with a couple of cities with a few improvements and units, so you're building from a very small base. The map is visible, and there are plenty of goody huts around, so you spend quite a lot of time collecting stuff from them. I played as the Northerners, a Rebublic (I could have changed govt, but I stuck with it), and I was quite weak for a while, but the other civs weren't particularly unfriendly, even the 'evil' Empire.

The Empire starts with more cities and a few extra techs, for instance Espionage, but they weren't the most successful of the AI civs. I was pretty much left alone until I got my civ big and advanced enough to defeat them.

Level of General Care

3/ 10
COMMENTS: The intriguing-sounding scenario description is perhaps the best part of the game. Other than that, only a few changes have been made, none of them really requiring documentation (there is no 'readme')

Art and Originality

3 / 10
COMMENTS: There is no new artwork, but the map is quite acceptable (interestingly-shaped continents and plenty of mountains).

NOTES: This scenario would be nice for someone looking for a change from the standard start of Civ 2, but the lack of any new units, techs or artwork will disappoint many people.

I think there are many more interesting scenarios around.
