Overall Rating
30 / 30

PRÉCIS: This is probably the best scenario I have ever played. Even trying to be very picky I was unable to find any fault. This scenario has all what a Civ2 player may ask for. I am impressed by the detail and thoroughness that the author has put into this scenario. He must have spend many hours with it.

MAP: Custom made, no too big, not too small; adequate for the purpose of the scenario

TIME SPAN: from 1492 (Discovery) to 1580 (annexation of Portugal by Spain)

NEW STUFF: Tons of it, it's really overwhelming

NEW CONCEPTS/TRICKS: Tons of them, it's overwhelming too

Playability Rating

10/10

COMMENTS: Right at the beginning of the scenario, the author lists the names of several people who helped him. That is a nice detail that sadly not many other scenario designers do. So many people playtesting it have ensured that playability is great. You have to do a bit of everything: do research, expand and micromanage, take care of your economy, and conquer! Everything appears to be so well timed that there is not a moment of distraction

The atmosphere of the scenario is superb. From the very first moment of starting the scenario, a beautiful title.gif installs you in the middle of the action. Everything fits perfectly the situation.

Level of General Care

10/10

COMMENTS: I would put here 11/10 if I could. Everything is so perfect! The author has even had the good sense to edit labels.txt to call the barbarians "chicmecs". If even such an insignificant detail has been taken care of, imagine the rest. Truly, this scenario sets an example in almost all respects. I especially like the fact that the author has taken a lot of time to explain the meaning of the wonders. That's great for people like me who are not so familiar with many parts of the history.

Colorful backdrops and historical blurbs make this a great scenario

Art and Originality

10/10
NEW IDEAS: There are tons of original ideas in here: city improvements like bullrings, Santo Officio (the Inquisition I assume), and missions have not been seen before. To have colored frames is also a pretty original idea. Nobody has done that before. Another superb detail, the barbarian (chichimec) cities all have palaces to avoid being bribed by a handful of coins. That is neat. Other things: cannons with amphibious capabilities…. definitely, this scenario is pure gold.

ART: Another 11/10 if I could… The artwork is wonderful. The author is one of the best unit designers that I know. His wonder icons are also astonishing.

CONCLUDING REMARKS: None.
