Like the name itself say, CivConverter is a program capable to transform Civ2 Scenarios into Civ2TOT compatibile version.
It is able to convert exactly all scenarios for Civ2 (except for those scenarios which use Major Objective Flags), this means all Civ2 & CiC scenarios, a lot of FW scenarios and near all MGE scenarios.
CivConverter is also capable to convert graphic files only, if you just want to convert some wonderful Civ2 icons into your TOT Scenario.
Now i've added some simple error checking, eliminated virtually all differences between Civ2 classic scenarios and Tot converted versions; Ok, I still have problems with the Renaissance cities (read below).

A nice and simple utility to add fortresses or airbases to your maps. You can pick which terrains to add them to.
This is mainly for those who'd like to see their scenarios allow unit stacks (and don't have entire stacks killed).
Airbases are really only interesting for ToT, since there they don't have the city properties like acting as irrigated/railroaded land etc. And of course, even then only in scenarios without air units.
If you want the details on what use this utility really is, ask techumseh, John Ellis, FMK and others, since they're the ones who asked for it.
Just unzip and run (the program, that is ), it should need no further explanation (and if it does, just ask me here).
If it doesn't run, download the VB6 runtime files from my MapEdit website.
Oh yes... and let me know if you encounter any bugs. It's not entirely unlikely there still are some (so backing up the savegames/scenarios before running them through CivStack is a good idea). |

~ You can change the level of barbarian activity.
~ You can set the bloodlust option on or off.
~ You can enable extra tribes if you started with less than 7. You'll still have to go into the scenario and add the units and cities. This just makes the tribe show up on the menu.
~ You can make the city style for played tribes agree with the city style stated in the rules.txt file. Normally what you see for the tribe you play is the bronze age graphic slot, unless it was the starting tribe when you created the saved game, (which was correctly displayed). |

GIF Xtractor is a program for modifying the GIF images in the Civilization II image library dlls. Unlike the beta 1 version it will not work properly on other files, unless they have the same format as the Civ2 dlls. You cannot edit the images in the progam. Only load and save them to and from the dlls. To edit the images I recommend Paint Shop Pro which can be downloaded from http://www.jasc.com.
The program should be fairly easy to use. Use the File menu to open the dll you want to edit. Then use the Image menu to insert and extract GIFs. The GIFs you insert into the dlls must not exceed the maximum size (in bytes) specified in the listview on the left. Also, for the GIFs to work properly with Civ2 they must be saved with GIF version 87a, noninterlaced. They should also have the same dimensions and color palette as those they are replacing (though this is not always required). |

 ToT Historical Scenario 1800 (Civ2) |

"Now I shall go far and far into the north, playing the Great Game."
-- Rudyard Kipling, 1901
It is the height of the Pax Britannica. While Europe's continental empires
scramble to check the British Empire in Africa and the Pacific, England's greatest fears
are becoming reality in one of the most desolate spots on the globe. For Russia has expanded
swiftly across the eastern steppes, and if she finds a way across the roof of the world,
the shining jewel of India lays before her.
But only the tsar knows for sure if Russia's aim is India or Turkey -- and access
to the Mediterranean.
Now England and Russia seek strategic control of the region, unseen by white men
since the days of Marco Polo. But the fierce warriors and opulent rulers of Central Asia
will not submit to imperialism lightly. |

Habsburg Bid for Mastery - #77

|
 Historical Scenario 1526 (Civ2) |
File 1
|
"Henceforth, like the doubleheaded black eagle in the imperial coat of arms, the Habsburgs had two heads at Vienna and Madrid, looking east and west." -Mamatey
The year is 1526. Suleiman's Ottoman armies have slain the Hungarian king at
Mohacs, ending all claims to Habsburg possessions in Central Europe. Charles V
has been both Holy Roman Emperor and king of Spain since 1519, the culmination
of centuries of shrewd marriages and politics. But he has also inherited his
family's enemies: the Valois of France, who covet the rich cities of Italy;
the Turks, who will not stop in Hungary; and the English Tudors, always anxious
to curb the power of continental rivals. Underlying these struggles, a debate
begun by a guilt-wracked monk named Martin Luther will prove the most perilous
threat of all. Already German princes harbor Protestant preachers, and the Low
Countries welcome the new religion with open arms. The stigma of excommunication
means little to those who have renounced papal authority; perhaps Castillian
Castilian arms and the riches of the New World can tip the balance . . . . |

"In Chamonix at the foot of Mont Blanc, people watched in fear as the Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice) glacier advanced. In earlier years, they had seen the slowly flowing ice engulf farms and crush entire villages. They turned to the Bishop of Geneva for help, and he made the journey to Chamonix. At the ice front he performed a rite of exorcism. Little by little, the glacier receded."
The Fifteenth Century saw the end of the Medieval Warm Period and the beginning of the Little Ice Age. In some parts, all of the snow no longer melted in the summer and gradually the world's glaciers began to grow to truly Continental dimensions. With so much water being stored in land ice, sea levels around the world dropped dramatically.
In the meantime, a pesky little primate species was beginning to get truly interested in technology and exploration. Europe and Asia discovered each other and a search for shortcuts added the Americas to the global community.
However, to contemporary Europeans, these events were nowhere near as important as the growing power of the Habsburgs. Research and development, formerly focused on agricultural techniques because of the falling harvests, once again turned its sights onto the topic of war.

Exports to cEvo are supported.
The European Map Maker is a bitmap of Europe and surrounding areas ready to be converted into Civ2 map format using MapEdit.

Using it is fairly straightfoward. Right now there are two main operations the program does... you can "Open to Convert" a map file or "Save As" a map file. Other operations like "New" and "Print" are displayed in the menu but are not implemented - yet.
You can load any map format listed in Open and save any map format in any order... it doesn't matter. You can resize maps from the same game if you want. When you "Save As" you are prompted to enter a horizontal and vertical size for the output map. It tells you what constitutes a legal size for that game map and won't save an illegal sized map.

"Who so commands the seas commands the trade of the world; Who so commands the trade of the world commands the riches of the world." - Sir Walter Raleigh.
In the 300 years lasting from 1500 to 1800, the seafaring European nations will undergo a huge era of expansion via colonization. As colonization progresses, (the map will turn blue) one nation will emerge as the first global superpower.
You will win if you are that superpower - within the 300 years timeframe. Ultimately the race to colonize was as much a test of economic might as well as military might. TRON captures this aspect. To win you must be the only player (including the AI-only races) touching the top of civilization power graph in 1800. You will need to be very rich to accomplish this. There can be no joint winners so if more than one power touches the top at the end, all players lose. This might require tactics different from what you are used to. For instance, it may not to your advantage to kill off a weaker player when he has little chance of winning but can help you weaken a stronger power. Also, you typically have more to gain by attacking the AI-only powers as they will always max out on the power graph if left unchecked.
This scenario achieved First Place in the Fourth Scenario Design Contest. |

To the Citizens of Russia!
The Provisional Government has been deposed. State power has passed
into the hands of the organ of the Petrograd Soviet of Workers and
Soldiers Deputies - the Revolutionary Military Committee, which heads
the Petrograd proletariat and the garrison.
The cause for which the people have fought, namely the immediate offer
of a democratic peace, the abolition of landed proprietorship, workers'
control over production and the establishment of Soviet power -
this cause has been secured.
Long live the revolution of workers, soldiers and peasants!

Rick Westera's "Rome 280 BC: Conquest of the Classical World" is inspired by the original Rome.scn but has a full range of Classical technologies, units, wonders, and events - not to mention a very different feel to the gameplay. Pyrrhus is invading Roman Italy as part of Epirus' brief bid for world empire, while the Carthaginians rule the Western Mediterranean, and three Greek empires struggle for control of the east, unaware of the Celtic maelstrom about to descend upon them from northern Europe. On Nov. 7, 1917, the Bolshevik (Communist) Party, led by Vladimir Illych Lenin, seized power in Petrograd, the capital of Russia. Over the next ten days they won power in Moscow and the rest of the country.
The Bolsheviks were anxious for peace with the Germans in order to consolidate power in Russia, and opened negotiations at Brest-Litovsk. Failure by Trotsky to agree to the German terms led to a German offensive, and the Bolsheviks were forced to conclude the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in March 1918, after losing huge territories.
Please note that the creator recommends his Civ2TOT Red October scenario instead. |

Let us bring into public knowledge what I wanted to keep for myself.:)
Not all of these function everywhere, eg. they do not work in events, menus, etc. Also, some functions are prefixed, eg. the field to fill in your name is an editbox, though the @options tag is used as with any other value. Also the "^" command works very differently in CREDITS.TXT than normally. |

I was experimenting with Kobayashi's nice tips on uses for terrain2.gif, but found out that the conventional way of laying squares next to each other is not exactly correct. Normally, this is not very serious, as a few points more or less don't matter, but in these matters of fitting images next to each other in order to create a larger picture, it is of vital importance. |

By "land mass numbering" I'm refering to the number the game assigns to each seperate land mass; those that aren't connected to another tile of another land mass. When you're in view mode, and you see the coordinates of the tile in parentheses, eg (120,78)3, that 3 refers to the land mass number. |

"Oh Lord, and save us from the Norsemen!"
Common prayer in the Dark Ages
To set sail and conquer that is what many believe to be the Viking nature.
That is not legend; it is, however, only one side of their history.
There is no single cause for the sudden onslaught of Vikings against the shores of medieval Europe, their restless travels and their search for a new and better life elsewhere across the Atlantic.
That is why this scenario is not only about the conflicts of the time but also about their exploration and settlement of both sides of the Atlantic and their failure to adapt to a new world that never really understood them.. |

Vikings 3.1 - #87

Harlan Thompson
|
 Historical Scenario 850 (Civ2) |
File 1
|
The year is 850. After a period a chaos surrounding the fall of Rome, Europe has settled down to a period of several hundred years of relative peace and stabillity. All that is about to drastically change. The Vikings have begun a two hundred year period of pillaging and conquering that will leave almost no part of the West untouched. By the time they finally settled down after converting to Christianity they had profoundly changed history. The trouble was, they had great difficulty holding onto the areas they conquered, and were unable to use their military prowess to forge a large empire. Can you learn from their mistakes?
The game has also been just as throughly designed and playtested for the human player to be either the Abbasids or the Byzantine Empire. These two advanced powers are fighting a holy war over the control of the Mediterranean. The Abbasids are also facing a breakdown in control in the far west of their empire. |

World War 2 Europe - #88
|
Harlan Thompson
|
 Historical Scenario 1940 (Civ2) |
File 1
|
The time is May, 1940. Possibly the largest and most important war in the history of the world has begun. Hitler plans nothing less than domination of the entire world, to recreate it with his twisted, racist visions. WW2 has been raging for almost a year in Europe, but only now is the German Army ready to strike through France in a in rapid blitzkrieg. France seems doomed to fall, but where will Hitler strike next?
Playing as the Axis the choice is up to you. Operation Sea Lion- the invasion of England. The conquest of Greece and/or Yugoslavia. Invasion into the Middle East. Elimination of Malta and/or Gibraltar as a threat. The choice is yours but act fast, because the Russians are rapidly mobilizing for war and Operation Barbarrosa- the invasion of Russia- can't be
delayed for long.
Meanwhile the United States sits safely across the Atlantic, covertly aiding England. Once the U.S. joins the war with its huge economy, time is truly against the Axis. For the Allies have embarked on a program to build the atomic bomb which could
singlehandedly decide the war. |
